28 bhp, 395 lbs, 85 mph:

The Model 18 appeared in the 1930s and the Model 18S (sprung and not rigid rear suspension) in 1949. Production continued till 1966 when AMC was acquired by Norton. It was almost the identical twin of the Matchless G80.

Although the claimed top speed is above 80 mph, in practice due to vibration, not much over 55 mph is recommended. Up to this speed it is a lovely ride - so not for motorways! Regular inspection for loose bolts is also essential.

This bike has matching numbers and was acquired in unrestored condition as a barely going concern. A full nut and bolt restoration (including conversion to 12 volt electrics) was undertaken by Kickstart Classic Motorcycles.
