Another Podium finish for our sponsored rider, Kieron Newman......
Well that was a weekend of highs and lows,Free practice showed that what we thought was a good base setting was in reality not, as yet again the bike didn't want to turn but having said that kieron managed to qualify 18th in tricky conditions. After qualifying we sat down with Kieron for the usual debrief and tried to find out why the bike was so difficult to turn at speed,(why we are having set up issues is every time kieron goes out on the bike he goes faster so what we think is a good set up only lasts the next session as he pushes the bike even harder) With what kieron was describing we all seemed to agree that the rear spring on the shock was too soft,so we changed it
Saturday Race 1 kieron got a really good start in wet conditions and got right up to 2nd then with 1 lap to go he lost the front costing him 2nd place but he held on for a good 3rd. After the race kieron said the front still didn't feel right, it felt better just a bit vague so we did some adjusting expecting another wet race on Sunday.
Sunday Race 2 couldn't of been held in more different conditions and with the meeting running nearly 20 minutes ahead of schedule none of the support classes got offered the chance of a free 10 minute warm up session on a hot and dry track which would of been handy as all of us only had wet time on track so we had to guess our dry settings.Kieron didn't get a good start but over the next 6 laps he head got his head down and battled back up to 5th in the cup but due to set-up issues he faded back to 9th,.after the race kieron really wasn't impressed with 9th but like we pointed out to him that yet again he has gone a lot faster from last time that we were there.
Between now and the next round at Snetterton we are planning a test to try and get a decent base setting for the bike so when we get to Snetterton we hit the ground running at what is one of kieron's favourite tracks.
