About a year ago we bought an uncompleted project on EBay.
It comprised a hardtail frame (by NK Customs), a carburetted T100 Bonneville engine (2005), Harley-Davidson Sportster forks, spoked front wheel and brake, spoked rear wheel and 3.5 gallon bobber fuel tank with retractable cap.
We have taken the build further: TT style drag pipes have been fabricated and finished off with upswept fishtail mufflers, a 7/8 inch dresser bend pullback handlebar has been mounted on part Triumph/part bespoke risers, a 4.5 inch Bates headlamp has been fitted as well as a side mounted tail light (from a Morris Minor), the seat is a cantilevered sprung item from a 1960s BMW, the back fender is a cut down front fender from an R80/7 BMW, the foot pegs are from Holme Valley Customs, the tyres are brand new whitewall Metzlers and the levers, master cylinder and linkages will be part Triumph and part bespoke.
The bike now essentially only needs a wiring harness & wiring; brake lines; the existing carburettors, oil cooler and starter motor to be fitted; a paint job; and to be commissioned.
The design is fairly long and low and very distinctive – although not that radical, so the ride should still be good.
Hence it would be perfect if an owner could now be found so that the rest of the work to complete the bike would be in line with that owner’s own vision.
We reckon the donor bike with the additional work we have done is worth £2,500 and we estimate the work (parts, paint and labour) to complete the bike to be no more than £5,000 (although this could depend on scope and complexity chosen).
So a unique and elegant hardtail bobber for no more than £7,500.
